Spring has sprung, and with it comes our March issue — a tad late, but packed with goodness all the same! If you’re a fan of science fiction, then this month’s issue is sure to satisfy with several excellent selections in that genre. If you prefer the more down-to-earth story, we have some excellent picks in those areas for you, too. Be sure to let our authors know what you think by rating and commenting. Happy reading!

Better late than never!

Welcome to Issue 12, September 2009

by the Editors

This issue has some great pieces, all well worth the length.

Our apologies for the late release.  While we managed to get it together in time — despite having a little bundle of joy show up a few weeks early and a small art fiasco — it was a technical issue that did us in in the end. Everything is fixed now. The bundle is joyous, the art is artistic, the gremlins are dead and we’re happy to bring you yet another issue.

This one is dedicated to the new baby and no sleep!  Happy reading and keep submitting.

Welcome to Issue 10, May 2009

by the Editors

Welcome to Issue 10! We’re a little later than usual getting this issue out, much to our chagrin. We’ve had a ton of new submissions these last two months — deciding among them has never been more difficult! We’d like to thank our readers and contributors for making AFIA what it is, and we hope to see many more great stories in the weeks and months to come!

Happy reading!

Welcome to Issue 9, March 2009

by the Editors

Welcome to Issue 9! This issue we seem to have an unintentional theme of mythology and folklore. Many of this issue’s selections can trace their inspiration to much older tales and legends. We’re fascinated by some of the modern spins our authors have put on these old stories, and hope you’ll enjoy them as much as we did.

Happy reading!

Welcome to Issue 8, January 2009

Happy New Year readers!  Welcome to Issue 8.  We seemed to have an unintentional theme of sentimentality this time around; there are some sweet pieces.  The holidays over, I’m hoping that you writers will make a resolution to dust off your short stories and submit them somewhere … hey, how about here?  As always, we are looking for nice cover art as well.  Happy reading.

Welcome to Issue 7, November 2008

AFIA is officially 1 year old today! To celebrate, we have a new batch of great stories and some new features, too. Last month, you may have noticed the appearance of a “rate this” widget next to each story title. We didn’t mention it then, since we wanted to test it out before announcing it, but now that it’s up and running, feel free to take it for a spin! Let the authors know what you think of their tales by voting with the new “rate this” widget, or the old fashioned way with a comment or two.

Read, comment, rate and enjoy!

Welcome to Issue 6, September 2008

You’ve probably noticed that this issue is a bit late to leave the starting gate.  It’s been a busy couple of months for us here at AFIA, in no small part because of the incredible volume of submissions we’ve been receiving!  It’s been getting more and more difficult to choose between them all.  We’re proud to bring you our latest issue, with seven excellent new stories sure to entertain you!

Read, comment, and keep those stories and artwork coming!  And most of all, enjoy your stay!
